Legislative Liaison Services

CSDGKC legislative liaison services begin with its Legislative Committee which includes one representative from each member district and the CSDGKC Executive Director.  The Legislative Committee meets two to five times, as necessary, to craft the Missouri legislative platforms.  These platforms are put in a brochure and distributed to the general membership and is posted on our website under Missouri Platforms. The legislative platforms serve as the basis for all CSDGKC legislative efforts.

CSDGKC then hires a registered lobbyist to represent CSDGKC in the Missouri Legislature.  Steven R. Carroll and Associates has been the CSDGKC representing body to the Missouri Legislature.

Essential to CSDGKC efforts is accurate and timely information.  CSDGKC uses legislative alerts and the “members only” section of its website to keep members informed.  Superintendents and Board of Education members are regularly called to testify before legislative committees as part of the overall lobbying effort.  It is very important that school districts are aware of pending legislation and stand ready to communicate personally with their elected officials.  As a result, CSDGKC legislative efforts often ask individual districts to communicate directly with their legislator on specific legislation.
