College Credit Review Team
(developed in 2009)

This critically important team consists of
HR professionals representing our member district schools.  The main goal of this team is to ensure that the granting of graduate college credit hours for advancement on a district’s salary schedule reflects actual benefits for students and advance a district’s mission and goals for learning.  Over time, advancement on a salary schedule reflects a substantial investment by school districts.  As a result, school districts are obligated to review accreditation and best practices in accepting graduate credits on the salary schedule.

College Credit Plan Basics:
1.  Accept all graduate degree credits from a college that has accreditation recognized by the federal government or DESE and are part of a graduate degree program.

2.  Offer an approved list of colleges/universities that offer graduate degree credits.

3.  Offer an approved list of colleges/universities that offer continuing education credits.

Because of concerns regarding rigor, please note that effective September 11, 2012, no new universities/colleges offering continuing education college credit hours will be added to the approved list for CSDGKC.  However, individual school districts can make specific arrangement for continuing education credit hours for district priorities.

4.  Provide a basic rubric for approved continuing education class credits for both on-campus courses and web courses.

5.  Develop a standing committee to meet as necessary (twice a year) to review the approved college/university list.  This committee will also work with area colleges/universities providing information about the approval rubric.

HR Professionals

In 2012, the opportunity for HR professionals from the CSDGKC member districts began discussions of conducting regular meetings.  The purpose of these meetings is to share successful HR practices, discuss specific relevant topics, and have the opportunity to have round table discussions regarding the responsibilities and growth of the human  resource professional.
